What do you do when your’e in a church that is structured to the point that it minimizes the flow. I’m a worshipper at heart.

Great question and something many of us face. You need to balance sensitivity with moving ahead, but I would suggest going to the pastor or leader and saying, “please consider putting all the things that break worship into one spot.” So get permission to lead say 15 minutes or so, back to back, then have a break for announcements, offering, missionary spot, etc. If you structure it right you can worship just fine in 3 songs! Let me know how you go

Hey! I love listening to your podcasts. They are very helpful and the commercials are an awesome way to illustrate the “out of balance” sides of each topic. Thanks so much for all you guys do! I was wondering what you guys thought about “silence” in worship times. I know we come together to sing praises to God, but what about the times in worship where we give God time to speak to us? What about the quiet moments where we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts? Should worship always be a diologe between us and God? And do you think we make worship a monologe too much of the time? I’m looking for a good balance. And I greatly respect your insight on this topic… I believe Satan has a counterfeit for everything God has. Satan perverts the things of God because he cannot create things. So, for every “holy hush” that we want to encounter, I believe Satan has the “awkward silence” in the worship service. Thank you for taking the time to read this! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES AND YOUR MINISTRIES!

      Hey thanks so much Joanna,

I think silence will be a great topic for one of the pods, and your insight is brilliant: Holy hush vs awkward silence, love it!!! Keep loistening to the pods and we will try and cover it sometime soon, and thanks again for your encouragement

I thank God very much for your books. What do you do when your team is in the habit of attending services late, do you let them minister or only use the few who came on time and leave the rest or do you have to compromise?

Monicah, I am not hard line, but I don’t like being taken advantage of either. I look at the reason they are late, and how often they are late. If they have young kids or have trouble getting to church, be merciful. If they cannot be bothered getting up, stand them down for the day. I think it all really depends on their heart.

Hi the discussions are really a blessing… Just wana ask, when leading worship is it a time of being ministered urself or getting the people to worship God? Because it is sometimes a bit of a struggle. Im very new in this area…. Thanx, n please continue, you are a blessing!!!

I find that if you worship yourself, then others will follow. That’s not to say that you forget about them, but you need to be ministered to yourself and others will be inspired to follow you.

Hi guys, i just listened to one of your podcasts titled “Worship Vs. Praise”. I must say that I was really inspired by the message. I’m from Lagos Nigeria.
I am a worship leader and in my church & we don’t use drums. I want to quite agree with you that regardless of the instruments we can still praise God with voices and there will be a remarkable move of the HOLY SPIRIT. Thank you

Timi, Thanks for the encouragement. You are so right about the instruments, because whether there are drums, guitars, or singing, the main instrument we use is our heart! Blessings to you over there in Nigeria (I have visited twice, to Jos and Kaduna!)

Evening, Darin. I’ve been involved in my church’s praise & worship for 1993/1994. We use a computer/keyboard & sing to midi format songs. My most embarrassing moment was in the middle of a praise song, I hit the space bar and stopped the music. Mind you, I had been “leading” praise & worship for just a couple months and my jaw dropped (my Pastor was standing right in front of me!) Am listening to your podcast from 2 Aug 2011 and glad I found it. Thanks for your insight.

      Hi Dennis,

Leading with a midi or tape is a veru difficult and constaining thing, so I do not envy you! I use to perform with a midi setup, and it often misbehaved! Crazy computers! Thanks for the encouragement and please keep listening to the podcast, as we hope to bring you more and more info as the months roll on! many blessings

Jerry, we encourage you to not give up (there’s a pod coming about this in a few weeks). Sometimes it is tempting to just walk away, but bro it is always darkest before the dawn! hang in there and keep trusting the Lord, and keep on learning, because this will help you to grow in strength and confidence! Stay tuned my friend, you have friends who long to encourage you!

Hi thanks for the podcasts i have a question how do you continue leading worship as a leader and its not a full time ministry for you as a leader, plus the entire team because commitment becomes an issue. We are all students persuing our education at university and many times this interferes with the ministry that we all love.
And another question as the worship leader do you have to lead all the songs for the whole year or should we stimulate the growth of other team members by letting them lead? Because i believe in working towards allowing the Lord to advance his Kingdom on earth

Jean, Super questions! The whole point of what we do here is to make it easier to lead worship. Once you understand and learn the best way to do it, it takes a lot less effort and is much more sustainable! I too work, travel, minister, help run Lily House, etc., so I know about lack of time.

The second question is easy… YES, raise up others and share the load. Much of the course is devoted to encouraging others in your team, so you job is to not only lead but also bring the very best out in those the Lord has given you on your team!
